My husband is an interior designer. I think I told you about it. That’s why I live surrounded by paint samples from different brands.

I love those color palettes! They are so inspirational, so impossibly full of color, and always so neat and ordered. Every time they open as a fan I feel like sighing.

I should have studied graphic design, no doubt, but I don’t feel bad about my course of studies or my profession – or do I? Hahaha.

Yes, it’s true: I wasn’t happy about it, so I stopped working when I had the chance and turned to the world of color and graphic expression wholeheartedly.

Agradezco infinitamente haberlo hecho!

Lawyer vs. Designer

I was so sure when I signed up at university that I never, ever asked myself if I wanted to study something else! No one forced me, no one in my family was a lawyer. What’s more, no one in my family had a university degree – save for a cousin of a similar age who was about to graduate – that must have been why no one ever asked me if I had really thought about what I truly wanted!

Law is one of those fascinating careers that makes you feel smart while you are studying, while you live among books in a library, reading about what other people accomplished in their lives and how they were judged. Reading how the rights and obligations we have get written is fascinating, as is reading how people fight for those rights and obligations.

What no one tells you is that once you graduate, 100% of your work involves dealing with other people’s problems. Just like psychologists and psychiatrists, lawyers are always consulted when the client has a problem. And when something needs solving. And they don’t teach you that in college.

My personality couldn’t stand it. The practice came at a time when I felt my own problems were more important than my clients’, and that was wrong. I couldn’t give them the time they needed. I could, actually, I just didn’t want to. But I felt I should be somewhere else. Doing something else.

At the time, my dad was very sick and I truly wanted to be helping him, instead of being at court. But when that situation was over, when I had no more “problems” to tend to… I still didn’t feel like handling other people’s problems.

I always dreamt as I studied that I was sitting at my desk, surrounding by papers, printing, writing, taking notes with different colours, cutting…

Until one day I realised that passion for paper was there, but from another angle! Color! Design! Wanting to share love, gratefulness, congratulations, instead of handling problems, fights and negotiations.
And today, whether in Buenos Aires or in Uruguay, my daily life finds me sitting at a desk, surrounded by papers, printing, writing, coloring, taking notes with different colors and many more things that you see me do in each video!

Who would have thought these two careers would have something in common! And how much passion behind one, but not the other.
I am so thankful I’ve done this! I was honest with myself and had the chance to leave my work as a lawyer. Indirectly thanks to my dad!

All this introduction was to introduce the simplest, most iconic card on this blog. Just remembering Pantone colors, a little masking and combining colors that make me happy.
