Craft Room Series: Episodio 1!

Maybe you’ve already visited the 360° interactive tour of my Craft Room, where you can click on each magnifying glass to spy into my drawers, behind my doors and over my shelves.

You might have done that already, but it’s still worth going over the organization of our space a little bit, isn’t it? If you are new around here, I am sure you’ll love it!

Especially if I go a little bit more in depth, describing a bit more each space and answering any questions or doubts you might have about each spot.

I’ve come up with the idea to do a series of blog entries about the Craft Room that will be called the Craft Room Series!
The idea is for me to teach you why my things are organized in this way, and that you can ask any questions about the area, the materials or the way they are organized.

I also want you to tell me in the comments section how you organize your Craft Room or desk. How do you store your embossing powders so you can easily find them? Do you store them by colour or brand?

If you have no idea what I am talking about, it’s time you checked THIS out so you can see my state-of-the-art 360° Interactive Tour of my Craft Room – or study or desk, whatever you want to call it.

I decided to start with my embossing powders. I will explain a little bit more in detail so the newbies learn what this is about.
These powders are tiny, really tiny plastic particles – they come in colours or transparent – used to highlight some sections, since it gives them a very professional shiny finishing, and even to seal what’s under them and add another layer of products, like for example inks or other embossing powders to achieve eye-catching and surprising effects.

Whenever we use these powders we will also need:

a) An Embossing Magic Powder Bag: with this neither the humidity from our fingers nor the static from the paper will attract powder in the sections where we don’t want it!

b) Pigment Ink: since it takes a while to dry, during that time we can make sure the powders really stick to that sector. We usually use Versamark Ink, which is a transparent pigment ink, but you can actually use any pigment ink you want and

c) A heat gun: once the powder has stuck, the hot air gun will melt them and there they’ll stay, forever!

To learn how I organize these powders in my Craft Room watch the following video, but if you want to watch it on YouTUbe HD click HERE.

On the same video you can also see my Distress Markers because you need to store them horizontally and I had no more room in my Copic Markers trunk – and to be honest, I didn’t want to get them mixed up – but I’ll tell you more about them later, when we get to the Markers episode.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this and that it’ll help you organize your powders in your space! It’s very important to keep everything tidy so that when we get to work we don’t lose time looking for stuff, we just need to let our imagination and creativity run free!
